Book Sculpture (VET Sunday Afternoon)

The Art of Book Sculpting begins with a few simple folds, then evolves into a labyrinth of complex cutting and carvings. In this workshop, you will learn a few basic techniques of sculpting paper through manipulation, finger pressing, cutting and easy deconstruction.  

VET began experimenting with the paper of discarded books several years ago and immediately became inspired by this intriguing artform.  She will share with you the unique tactile qualities of this thin, flexible material and how to create crisp hard edges, as well as feather soft edges with just a few modified clips. With the addition of a variety of decorative embellishments of beads, fiber, wood and other found objects, you too, will discover the transformative nature of upcycled books.
