Join Dallas artist Clara Johnson for a transformative two-day workshop where you’ll unlock the creative possibilities of silk. Designed for all skill levels, this empowering class will guide you in crafting your unique design and painting on square-shaped silk scarves using Jaquard green label dye. You’ll discover the distinctive qualities of various silk types, learn techniques for creating texture, and the delicate balance between spontaneity and control. Clara will provide most materials freeing you to focus on exploring your artistic vision. Come prepared to unleash your imagination and tap into the liberating joy of creative expression.

- Learn the difference between types of silk
- Learn to stretch the silk scarf on a rack
- Learn to paint with dyes using the Serti resist technique
- Learn how to set the dye using a chemical bath
Supplies:
Supplies: Various types and sizes of acrylic and watercolor brushes will work just fine. Chinese Sumi brushes are very nice too. Be sure to have small brushes for detail work and larger brushes for covering large spaces quickly. Bring a medium size water container and paper towels.
Silk racks, dyes, resist materials and 1 square silk scarf provided. Additional scarves are available for purchase from the instructor for $45.
Students are encouraged to bring their ideas, paintbrushes, and a roll of paper towels.
