Delve into the magic of creating and embellishing cyanotypes using a photographic printmaking process that produces prints in a distinctive indigo invented by Sir John Herschel, a brilliant astronomer and scientist in 1842.
Don’t worry if you have no prior experience with cyanotypes as the basics will be covered as part of this class.  You will learn how to create digital negatives, and then expose those negatives using the cyanotype process, and finally use those pieces in a variety of ways including mixed media and collage.  There will a thorough review of materials that you will need during the first class.
Skills acquired in this class include:
• Learn the history and process of cyanotypes.
• Create a base image cyanotype.
• A variety of materials and techniques to embellish your pieces, such as gold leaf, posca pens, acrylic paints, watercolors, colored pencils and inks.
