Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pastelist, this workshop offers the opportunity to create a beautiful landscape scene in a positive and encouraging environment. We will be painting from the natural beauty and landscape offerings of the Valley House Sculpture Garden in celebration of the Fall season. Instructor will be demonstrating step by step instructions for those that are new to the medium.

The process of working with watermedia on paper requires an artist to be conscious of both positive and negative shapes as the artist works from light to dark, but this requires a way of thinking about composition that may not come easily. This workshop will help watercolor and acrylic painters see and design shapes that will result in strong, effective paintings. Participants will want to be experienced painters (not absolute beginners) and should bring their customary materials along with their own lunch and snacks as desired. Activities will include painting exercises, demonstrations, and examples of master paintings.
