CLASS or WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Design and develop your visual dialogue as you work with multiple materials and create an art piece from concepts including imagery and symbolism. Working with acrylic paint and other items such as paper, fabric, text, found objects or packaging, play with textures and apply various mediums to create a vibrant work of art on a Gessobord. 

NOTE: This workshop is held offsite at Katherine Baronet's Studio in the Mix Creative Space. The studio is located in the lower level of the White Rock United Methodist Church. Please enter from the north side near the accessible ramp.

Discover how to pour colorful acrylic flow art, including how to create beautiful cells. Designed to provide you with all the techniques and insights necessary to create your own artwork. At the same time, you will be introduced to the seven chakras, their related colors and individual attributes. You will learn how imbalances and blockages of the chakras can manifest in your emotional and physical body.

Choose from the provided chakra color schemes for your flow art. You will walk away with four 6" x 6" canvases of your own finished creations. All materials are provided.

En Plein Air is the French word for “outdoors.” Painting in natural light became popular during the mid 19th-century during the age of Impressionism. In this one-day, beginner level workshop, you will learn basic watercolor tips and methods for creating a watercolor painting on location at one of Dallas’ hidden gems, The Valley House Gallery and Sculpture Garden. Bring your own portable plein easel and travel stool if you wish (not required).

CLASS or WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Join this workshop to learn the joys of making a creative artful travel journal. Learn ways to utilize the travel journal before, during and after the trip to extend the joy of your trip. Drawing and journaling your trip is an important method for cementing details into your memory whether the journal itself is the end product or a tool for creating larger, more finished paintings in the future. We will use simple drawing tools, a compact watercolor palette and a spiral bound watercolor sketchbook for this one day workshop. Beginners to intermediate level artists welcomed!

Bring photos and mementos (receipts, ticket stubs, maps) from a trip you enjoyed, whether a local weekend get-away or a three week European tour!

CLASS or WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Develop the skills of laying down bold abstract structures in various mediums, applying vivid and expressive colors, and exploring placement of the collaging materials to add depth and dynamism to paintings. Through the creative process, with an experienced instructor, this workshop will help students discover and develop their own unique artistic voice and painting style which can be applied to future paintings they create.

During the workshop Sarah Janece will begin with a demonstration/discussion which will cover abstraction and realism in watercolor, the exciting possibilities that exist in mixing various mediums and collaging materials, inspirations, tools, and techniques that students can build upon in the workshop as they paint their own piece of art. Each painter will receive individual attention and guidance through the painting's development as well as encouragement to always find joy in the process. Sarah Janece’s enthusiasm for artistic expression, love of nature’s beauty, and excitement for painting will create an atmosphere of adventure as each student delves into creating their very own mixed media collage painting.
