Tufting Fundamentals is making art at the intersection of traditional rug making craft and cutting-edge design. Explore modern design aesthetics and unlock boundless artistic possibilities. Grounded in history of tufting in art and design, students will learn two types of tufting techniques: hand needle and mechanical tufting gun. You will master punch needle, tufting gun cut pile, hand tufting, backing, trimming, framing, and cutting.
Beginners will practice various tufting techniques to create three different sizes of works: 6" × 6", 12" × 12", and 29" × 29”.
Intermediate students will have the opportunity to produce rugs as large as 55" × 55”.
