Create a durable, yet flexible book with the process used for most hardcover books on your shelves. Learn how to make a hardbound (codex) book by bind pages together with sewing and glue. After reinforcing the pages, you will attach a protective hard cover.

Skills acquired in the class include:

· Book construction

· Competency with a bone folder and fettling knife

· Customization with simple and advanced variations

Often referred to as "the poor man's etching", and promoted in many non-toxic printing facilities, this process allows artists to create a matrix using commonly found supplies. We will not only focus on how to making plates from common materials, but also explore a variety of inking techniques allowing you to combine both relief and intaglio printing from one surface. If you enjoy found object art, creating with pattern and texture and exploring color, then you will love this class. Each participant will create a simple black line print, a color monoprint, and a multi-plate color print. (John - add info about it being at the artist’s studio)

· Gaining the understanding of making the matrix

· Proper inking techniques

· Paper preparation and simple registration
