CLASS or WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

In this class we will learn the in’s & outs of woodcut printmaking! We will draw, carve, and print our own woodcut designs. Students will learn how to use wood carving tools as well as how to set the gauges of an etching press and operate the press to produce prints off of their wood blocks. We will carve MDF using V & U gauges and learn various color printing techniques such as Chine Collé and Multi Block printing.

CLASS or WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Ever wonder how those beautiful color block prints are made? Unlock the mystery of the layers, learn how to bring a full range of color into your printmaking process. You will be guided through two techniques of multicolor printing with the relief process. Learn how to work with transparent and opaque ink, layering each color to achieve the look you desire in your work, exploring a variety of registration techniques while creating two, small editions of you block prints. Terri is a master at sharing this process, helping you grow your printmaking skills. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced printmaker, the tips and tricks that you will experience in her class will improve your carving skills, expand your knowledge of paper, and help simplify the designing process.

You will be working in a Certified Green Studio, learning the importance of protecting your health and the health of the planet through sustainable simple practices.

CLASS or WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Intaglio Printing covers a wide range of techniques, in this class we will focus on basic line and tone. Using a variety of surfaces, you will explore Drypoint, becoming comfortable with drawing into a hard surface. Tone will be introduced with carborundum, you will explore pattern through the addition of the Collagraph, and experiment with adding color using surface rolls and stencils. If you are new to printmaking, this class will expand your creative process, creating a suite of prints, uniquely individual, yet connected through the study of this process. You will be working with Metal and alternative surfaces; working a Green Print Studio using Soy Based and other Alternative print materials. The Intaglio Print Basic Non-Toxic Printmaking IV A Series of Printmaking classes designed by DAFPS for the Creative Arts Center of Dallas.
