In this class we will learn the in’s & out’s of woodcut printmaking! We will draw, carve, and print our own woodcut designs. Students will learn how to use wood carving tools as well as how to set the gauges of an etching press and operate the press to produce prints off of their wood blocks. We will carve MDF using V & U gauges and learn various color printing techniques such as Chine Collé and Multi Block printing.
The best way to begin understanding the many complexities of printmaking is through the Monotype. This freeform style in printmaking allows the discovery of many techniques used in all forms of printmaking.
Explore the basics of ink, paper, and how to create an image through layering color and pattern, completing several works, from Black & White to Multi-colored prints.
Dallas Artisan Fine Print Studio is a green facility, here we practice sustainable habits for the creative process. Our goal is to support a Non-Toxic environment while creating a full printmaking experience.
