Immerse yourself in color in this four-night intensive workshop on color theory that will cover beginning to advanced concepts. You will be able to mix any color that you see as well as increase your understanding of flesh tones, color temperature, color harmony and design. We will be working with professional oil paints and thinner, so dress appropriately. The fee will cover all art supplies.

In this one-day, beginner level workshop, you will learn basic watercolor tips and methods for creating a watercolor painting on location at one of Dallas’ hidden gems, The Valley House Gallery and Sculpture Garden. Bring your own portable plein easel and travel stool if you wish (not required).

CLASS or WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Teachers will have the opportunity to create three different types of ceramic forms (including both functional and sculptural forms) that can be used in their classrooms. The CAC Educator will inform Teachers of the cultural and historical references of these forms while relaying the quality craftsmanship skills necessary to adapt these projects for all ages. Teachers will work with raw clay on day one and continue with on glazing techniques and surface finishes on day two. All work from day one will be fired for finishing on day two. Geared for fun, exploration, and the necessary 12 hours of professional development (including certificate).

This workshop provides 12 hours of professional development (including certificate) for ISD Teachers.

There will be a one-hour lunch break and you can bring a lunch or visit nearby restaurants in East Dallas near CAC.

Discover the art of lost-wax casting by molding natural objects such as twigs, vines, bugs and seed pods to be cast in metal. We will form a plaster mold around the object, heat the mold until the object burns away and pour molten metal into the remaining cavity.

Sculpt an animal in clay in four hours, glaze animal in the next session. Have the fun and excitement of gesturing quickly in clay, refining and finishing an animal of your choice in one session. After two weeks of drying the clay, piece goes through a bisque firing. Class returns for two hours of experimenting with glazing, to finish work.
