Immerse yourself in color in this four-night intensive workshop on color theory that will cover beginning to advanced concepts. You will be able to mix any color that you see as well as increase your understanding of flesh tones, color temperature, color harmony and design. We will be working with professional oil paints and thinner, so dress appropriately. The fee will cover all art supplies.

You will need to bring only a note pad & pen, and way to transport wet 11x14 canvas panels.

Students will choose and arrange images, create small drawings, select a color palette, and develop a center of interest to create an aesthetically pleasing and framed composition. Students are encouraged to collect from home and bring meaningful items to personalize their collage; maps from trips, found 3D objects, or small toys, etc. The more materials you select, the more design options you’ll have. Additional objects, hand-made papers, matte medium, glue brushes and shadow box frames will be provided at workshop. Please bring a lunch.

Discover one of the oldest methods of dyes and create beautiful works of art in this full day workshop. Using traditional shibori methods with synthetic indigo, students will create unique designs onto pillowcases, wall hangings, bags, scarves and much more to take home and enjoy. All skill levels are welcome, and all materials are provided; but students are welcome to bring any t-shirts or natural fiber materials (cotton/rayon/silk/linen) to try out as well.

CLASS or WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

In this workshop you will learn 3 different pouring methods within the Dutch Technique and how to create beautiful cells with lacing. After taking the provided chakra test Anja will introduce you to the 7 chakras, their related colors, and individual attributes. Learn how to detect deficient chakras and how to balance those. Choose the corresponding color schemes for your artwork to balance your deficient chakras. 

You will walk away with four 6"x6" canvases of your own finished creations. All materials and tools will be provided. You are welcome to bring snacks/beverages.

Sculpt an animal in clay, glaze the animal in the next session. Have the fun and excitement of gesturing quickly in clay, refining and finishing an animal of your choice in one session. After two or more weeks of drying the clay, the piece goes through a bisque firing. Class returns for three hours of experimenting with glazing, to finish work.

Students will be notified as to when to pick up finished work. Note: This workshop spans two days.

Discover the ancient technique for decorating metalwork.  Work with copper while you kiln fuse powered glass onto the metal. While you create a design in wire, you will then apply the in segments. Repeated firings build up the design in layers and since firing take only minutes, you will see results right away.

Explore a new method of image making on your ceramic work by using iron oxide decal transfers fired onto glazed clay forms. Reproduce your original BLACK & WHITE line drawings, photographs, or any digital images directly on the surface of pre-glazed pottery resulting in a permanently kiln fired SEPIA (brown iron oxide) image. Create designs using our pre-printed images or if you want to use your own original black and white images, please email them (smaller than 8 1/2" x 11") to lynn@bothhandsstudio.com for pre-printing at least a week before the class meets. Bring your own pre-glazed and fired pottery to decorate or use our commercial glazed small plates.

Finished fired work will be ready to pick up in one week.

Join us for a fun and comprehensive one-day workshop where you will learn the basics of sewing! You will learn the basic stiches and their uses, as well as basic patterning techniques. You will be taught how to use your machine to make a variety of small, personalized projects.
